Rakshabandhan marks the beginning of the Indian festive line-up which ends with the New Year celebrations. In these 4-5 months, Indians have a lot of festivals from different religions to look forward to, but to be able to enjoy the festive season we all have to go through the excruciating task of having to clean up the house so that it is apt to host dinners and get-togethers.

Given below are some tricks that you can use to clean your house this festive season, so that you are able to enjoy your time with guests without having to worry about hiding the cobwebs.

1. First of all, you need to have a definite plan of what needs to be done in the mammoth task of cleaning up the home. Look at your house not as the owner but as a picky guest, so that you have an unbiased view of how it looks. Look into the floor corners, the hidden parts of the shelves, and the ignored drawers. Take a pen and a paper and take a walk through all the corners of your home. Note down the list of places that require cleaning. Write in CAPITALS what needs to be deep cleaned, so that you have enough time to clean them.

2. Now that you have a list of what needs to be done, you need to do assign tasks to your family members so that the whole burden doesn't fall on your shoulders. While some can arrange for the things that need to be brought from the market, some can get down with the cleaning process.

3. When it comes to cleaning, you can't escape but get your hands dirty. Make a list and get down to the business. Don't get distracted by things that you think need cleaning; all you need to do is to stick to the list and check things off one by one. Wash the windows, take off the dust and cobwebs from wall corners, clean the staircase, get rid of unwanted items in kitchen drawers that you haven't used in the past 3 months, wash and press the curtains, wipe the dust off photo frames and remote controls and include room fresheners and overall, work hard to make your home look like the dream home that you always wanted.

4. Once done with the details of your home, clean the bathrooms so that your guests are all the way more impressed with your cleaning habits. Scrub the toilets, clean the shelves, and invest in matching soap cases, liquid soap dispenser and toothbrush holders.

5. Assign a room in your home which should be the main area of your celebration. Try and make sure that the guests stay in that room for the most of their time at your place, so that when it's the time to clean up, you don't have to work hard on every room. Your friends and family would understand that, and for those who are not your friends or family, you can be formal and ask them to have the fun in that room itself. One great tip to make sure no one peeps into your rooms is to close their doors. Basic courtesy would hold back your guests from opening the doors until you yourself do it for them.

6. A day before the guests arrive, make sure that you hide away all the valuable stuff that you won't need at the party. This includes your ornaments, documents, and glassware. Your guests might have children with them, and they would not know that the documents they are sketching at are of importance to you. Likewise, when you are busy with the celebrations, someone might take valuable things from the closets.

7. On the morning of the party, touch up the home. Clean the mirrors, keep fresh, clean towels in your bathrooms, vacuum clean the floors, empty the trash can, turn on the room fresheners, light candles and go for fresh flowers.
By using these hacks, you would be able to enjoy the party without any hesitations, worries and jitters, neither about your image nor about the post-party clean-up.
