10 Things That Could Land You In Trouble Abroad

Did you know that in Japan, you can't tip waiters, even if you love their service? They believe in hard work and tips are considered offensive. However, in the United States, you are not allowed to leave without tipping the waiters.

If you are pumped up for your first international visit, don't you think that it would be better to know of the things that you are not allowed to do on foreign lands? This would surely make your stay more enjoyable, when you won't have any worries about landing in legal troubles or misunderstandings.

1. When in Ukraine, make sure that the bouquet of flowers you purchased to gift doesn't include an even number of flowers. This is because traditionally, even numbers of flowers are supposed to be put only on someone's grave or in funerals.

2. When in Barcelona, don't roam around in swimsuits if you are not on a beach. You could be fined hundreds of dollars for this.

3. When in Thailand, make sure that your beach selfies don't show the lower portion of your breasts. If caught, this can land you in jail for five years.

4. When in Russia, don't go empty-handed to someone's house. This is considered immoral, because Russians spend a lot on trying to make your stay comfortable at their homes. If your host is a woman, bring wine, and if your host is a man, some good quality beer, would do. If nothing, carry a box of chocolates and you are sorted.

5. Some Indian households have a tradition of not hugging someone or touching someone's feet when they are standing at the threshold of a door. Similarly, in Russia, don't shake hands with someone when standing at the threshold of the door.

6. When in Germany, don't stop your car when on the national highway, called the autobahn. Just so you know, there is no limit on the speed that you can drive your cars at; there is no stopping though unless in emergencies like empty fuel tanks.

7. When in Turkey, don't signal the 'okay' gesture with your finger and thumb; it can land you in trouble, because it's considered to be very offensive.

8. When in Singapore, don't eat while travelling in public transport as there are strict laws against defaulters of this law.

9. When in Bhutan, don't light a cigarette in public, unless you are ready to pay a heavy fine for this unhealthy habit.

10. When in Switzerland, make sure that you don't honk after sunset. While we agree that driving on hilly roads can be tricky but hiring a taxi would cost you less than the fine you would have to pay for honking after sunset.
