Going on a vacation to take a break from your hectic, always-on-your-toes lifestyle? Guys, these vacations will be sheer waste of time if you don't come back feeling calm and peaceful. As soon as you will get back to your usual routine, you may find yourself arguing with your kith and kin over trivial issues; feel irritated and frustrated in office; and worse, you may always find yourself surrounded by negative thoughts.

So, what can you do to calm down and achieve inner peace when it is difficult to make lemonades out of lemons that life throws? Dr Sandeep Govil, Consultant, Mental Health & Behavioural Sciences, at Saroj Super Speciality Hospital, Delhi, shared some amazing tips with Lifehacker India. If followed well, these tips will make you as 'cool' as cucumber, and also help improve your mood, work quality and productivity.

Strike a balance: Work is only a part of your life, it is not your life. The sooner you realize this, the better. The company will survive even without you, but you need to be able to survive in the absence of the company. So, strike a balance between your family and office; never, mix both roles.

Take a break after every 90 minutes: Working for long hours at home or office makes one feel exhausted. Take a break, do stretching or go for healthy snack breaks, and feel rejuvenated.

Learn to say "No": Don't over-commit, try to take responsibilities which you can easily performed without much burden. Be realistic and develop the courage to say no.

Exercise daily: It is proven that people who exercise daily have 30 % lower chances of developing a mental illness. Walk everyday or do yoga 30 minutes a day.

Deep breathing: Relaxation does not only mean going on a vacation. The best way to relax is to focus on your breathing. Try to close your eyes, and breathe deeply every four to five hours for two minutes.
