Every year on the last Wednesday of August, thousand of people from all corners of the world make their way to Bunol, a small town in eastern Spain, to indulge in a childhood fantasy of throwing riped tomatoes at each other. Yes, we are talking about the world's biggest food fight 'La Tomatina'.

Since 1945, the tomato fight has been a strong tradition in Bunol. However, the origination of this festival still remains uncertain. But the popularity of this whacky fest has increased tremendously over the time.

And if you wonder how the authorities restore the beauty of this small town; well, soon after the one-hour fruit fight ends, the cleaning process starts. It involves the use of fire trucks to spray down the streets with water provided from a Roman aqueduct. Once the tomato pulps are flushed, the ground is clean owing to the acidity of tomatoes.

As 'La Tomatina' completes 70 years of its existence, let's look at all the fruity goodness that comes along with this festival via this infographic, which has been created by My Destinaton.
