5 Funny Things Indians Do During The Festive Season

With the festive season going on in full swing, we Indians are leaving no stone unturned to enjoy it as much as we can. You could say that with a new festival coming in every week, one would get tired of celebrations, but with such a wide culture and a variety of religious festivals, we can't seem to have enough of the festive season.

On a humorous note though, Indians do some funny things in the festive season, which makes it even more enjoyable. Here are some funny things that Indians do during their festive season.

1. Dance
Have you ever been to Ganpati Visarjan in Mumbai? If yes, you know what we are talking about. People, who never even leave their chairs when they go to marriages and other celebrations where mostly people dance, can be seen dancing their hearts out, with or without music. They truly bring alive the phrase of dancing like no one's watching, and rightly so because when everyone is busy dancing, who's got the time to look at others?

2. Shop
Yes, a lot of that happens, doesn't it? Whenever there is a festival, the shopkeepers try to stock up their shops with everything that they can and that too months in advance, because when it comes to festival shopping, no one can beat Indians. How else can you explain your last to last Diwali Kurta, the EidPathani Suit, and the spoon that you bought on Dhanteras, some 12 years back?

3. Pray
And not silently, trust us! There are tents everywhere you see, with the smallest of idols and the biggest of donation boxes, which ironically, are always empty even when people donate a good amount of money.

4. Donate
When we talk of praying, donation doesn't lag far behind. During the festival season, because there are so many new temples are put up in the form of tents and moving carts, a lot of money goes into the donation boxes, which we still fail don't understand how, but remain empty.

5. Eat
Well, that just comes along on its own doesn't it? There are snacks, sweets, and special dishes specific to different festivals, like modak for Ganesh Chatuthi, tiranga barfi for Independence Day and seviyan forEid. That being said, let's not even talk about the holiday weight, shall we?
