Turn Power Cuts In Your Favor By Being A Fun Parent

Well, for someone who grew up in the 90's in India, power cuts are not new. However, sometimes, those were fun because we got to interact with our neighbors, playing all sort of outdoor games and making lifetime memories. Kids these days, however, are far off from power cuts, because one, the electricity conditions in India have improved, and two, we have power backups at home.

If, however, they still face a power cut, they have their smartphones and tablets to entertain them, but at what cost? Looking at bright screen isn't good for their eyes and not having to interact with parents and neighborhood kids is only going to make them socially uncomfortable.

However, asking your kids to keep their phones aside and go out to play would only make them think of you as bossy, which is why we have come up with a few hacks that you can use to be a fun parent in power cuts.

1. To show your kids how creatively intelligent you are, burn one of their least favorite crayons instead of candles, and trust us when we say that they would burn for quite some time.

2. Alternatively, you can make candles using oranges. This would give your kids something to eat, while the fragrance of oranges would be an added advantage. Here is how you can do it.

3. If the power cut happens on a special night, say your kid's birthday, make the party glow by inserting 2-3 glow sticks in your balloons and then blowing them. They would shine bright as a star.

4. The power is gone, so you would have to depend on a sandwich for the dinner, but it doesn't have to be a boring, vegetable sandwich. Throw in some Nutella, marshmallows, honey and peanut butter for your kids to have a fulfilling dinner.

5. You can quickly make a board game yourself, so that your kids look away from their mobile screens and learn how to play the games you grew up playing. Here is a DIY tutorial to make Ludo board.
